Finishing the kitchen

While we certainly had no complaints about the temporary working kitchen the guys installed for us, it’s been so much better to have our actual finished products going into place.

This fancy suction machine spaces the quartz so they can insert the glue, and then suctions the pieces back together (the countertops were installed on Friday morning)

My tile-setter moved here from Romania 3-1/2 years ago to build a better life for his family. Back there, his wife made the equivalent of $50-$60/month working as a dentist, which she spent years in university for. Here, she can't even work as a dental assistant, so she helps her husband when he needs extra hands. Their story makes me sad, but at the same time, their obvious happiness and work ethic are rather uplifting.
